Astronomy Weekends

The Society schedules at least two annual Statewide member gatherings for a weekend of "all things astronomy", star gazing and astro imaging. In recent years these weekends have been held at the Fonthill Farm Stay accommodation, east of Oatlands and The Rostrevor Camp near Fingal. The night skies are dark and pristine at these locations.

These events are eagerly anticipated by members and are often booked out soon after registration is available.

During the day, there is a varied program of workshops, presentations and discussion groups. However, the real focus of the weekend getaway, are the two evenings. There are laser guided tours of the night sky highlights followed by, up close and personal views, of these highlights using a wide range of member’s telescopes. The sites, with their pristine dark skies, are also a mecca for astro imagers.
