Member Observing and Imaging Evenings

Regular and ad-hoc member observing and imaging evenings are scheduled at our Mt Pleasant Observing site.

Members may bring their own equipment, but are also able to use the Society’s equipment after suitable induction is completed. It is an ideal opportunity for members who have new telescopes or other equipment to gain first hand assistance in setting up and using the equipment from experienced members.

There is 240V power at most of the observing pads.

BBQ facilities are available for members wishing to BYO food. Tea and coffee making facilities are also available to help ward off the evening chill.

Regular sessions are scheduled at least monthly. The schedule for these monthly sessions is published on our Events page. Click here to access the latest scheduled observing and imaging evenings.

Ad-hoc casual observing evenings are are organised whenever the cloud cover predictions indicate a clear night and an Observing Coordinator is available to open up the Mt Pleasant facility. These are usually scheduled with 24 hours notice. A special email alert list ensures members who wish to be aware of these ad-hoc evening sessions are kept informed of forthcoming observing evenings.

Regular sessions are schooled from time to time in northern Tasmania. These are usually held at member’s homes. Click here to find scheduled observing and imaging sessions across northern Tasmania.
