PUBLIC OPEN NIGHTS

Explore the wonders of the night sky and peer through the society's telescopes to see the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. This fun and exciting event is perfect for families, astronomy enthusiasts and curious minds alike.

These, very popular, Public Open Nights are held at our observing site in the grounds of the Mt Pleasant Radio Telescope facility, Denholm's Road, Cambridge.

Our 2025 Public Open Night was held in July under clear skies. Over 400 attendees were inspired by the night sky wonders on view.

The event is outdoors and attendees are advised to wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear for walking on uneven surfaces. This is a dark sky event, so only red torches are permitted. There will be a limited number of red torches available for sale at the event.
